Deputy Telen, a Deputy Sheriff for only 1 * years, was gunned down by a hidden assailant armed with a 12 guage shotgun. Deputy Telen and his partner were dispatched to a suspicious person call in the Dunlap area. Deputy Telen and his partner were clearing the house, when the suspect shot Deputy Telen. He was 26 years old and is survived by his wife and two daughters, age 1 and 2. His wife Shelley was expecting their third child in October.

Deputy Kuredjian was a 17 yr. Veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He was gunned down by a suspect wanted by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms for weapons violations and impersonating a Federal Marshall. Deputy Kuredjian was responding to the assistance, shots fired request when he was shot by the suspect using a high powered, scoped rifle. (Please see the tribute to 60M2 )

Officer Fontana was shot and killed in what investigators believe started out as a "routine" traffic stop. Investigators believe that when the suspect was cornered in a cul-de-sac, he spun around a fired on Officer Fontana. Officer Fontana was 24 years old and a member of the San Jose Police Department for only 9 * months. He is survived by his parents and two brothers.

Deputy March was gunned down in broad daylight by a suspect, during a "routine" traffic stop. Investigators believe that some type of struggle ensued and the suspect drew a concealed weapon and fired upon Deputy March, who was struck in the face. Deputy March was 33 years old is survived by his wife

Deputy Phelps was killed during a traffic stop by a suspect wanted for two separate shootings. Deputy Phelps did not know about the shootings prior to stopping the suspect. When Deputy Phelps did not answer his radio, fellow officers responded and found him already deceased, his radio car and .45 auto were missing. Deputy Phelps is survived by his wife Dana, his daughter Nicole and his son Kenny.

Officer Pedro was killed in what co-workers described As a “freak” accident. Officer Pedro had just activated his emergency lights in preparation for a traffic stop. His tires drifted off the roadway and went into a slide, ultimately flipping over several times. Officer Pedro knew this area well, he grew up in and worked the area. Officer Pedro is survived by his wife, C.H.P. Officer Colleen Gilmartin and his two year old daughter, Sara Jessica.

Officer Cook was killed in a traffic accident, as he raced to help arrest a felony suspect. Two radio cars collided while rolling code 3, three other officers were injured in the crash. Officer Cook is survived by his parents and his domestic partner of three years, Jared Strawderman.

Officer Paderez was killed in another “freak” accident. He was walking through the parking lot of his station, carrying his holstered .45 auto, along with some other items. The holstered weapon fell from his hands and landed on it’s hammer. The weapon discharged and the round struck Officer Paderez in the head. Officer Paderez is survived by 6 brothers and 5 sisters. He had one other brother who was an L.A.P.D. Officer, who was killed in a traffic accident.
